NEW BUS CARDS ISSUED 20/04/2026

Following the closure of the Queensland School Ticketing (QST) Pilot, Karrabee Bus and Coach has transitioned to the Transportme ticketing system for school bus services.

From Thursday 2 April 2026, the QST smartcard and Travel2School App are no longer in use.

From Monday 20 April 2026 (start of Term 2), students will travel using a Transportme smartcard, which will be provided to them by the bus driver on their first day of travel.

Students and their parents/guardians will also need to download and use the Transportme Passenger App to manage their child’s travel. The app also includes handy features like live bus tracking—so there’s no more guessing where the bus is. You can watch it as it gets closer to your stop!

About the Transportme Passenger App

The Transportme Passenger App is available for download at any time on Google Play and the Apple App Store.

  1. Download Transportme Passenger App. Available from Apple App Store or Google Play.
  2. Create a new user account with your usual email address and a unique password.
  3. Choose your favourite bus operator, this is us!
  4. Link your child’s Transportme smartcard to your Passenger account by visiting: Transportme™ Passenger app – linking smartcard – You have questions, we have answers. Please ensure you use the Use Card UID method to link the smartcard to your account.

Configure your notifications

  1. If required, add funds to your smartcard for any top-up or other fares you pay
  2. Also, if required, enable the auto top up to set up your ongoing fare payments so that your child’s card stays in a credit balance.  You can set up a Top Up Trigger and a Top UP Amount so that you do not need to manually top up the card.
  3. If you need help, check out the help features, or contact us.

The setup of the Transportme Passenger App is easy and intuitive. You may find the Transportme website useful to provide more information but essentially your tasks are:

If you stay signed into the Transportme Passenger App, you have easy access to its features. If you choose to sign out, please remember your username and password.  The login process is easy if you remember your username and password (logging into the app).

Supporting your child with their smartcard

Please talk to your child about this being a new responsibility for them to look after their smartcard. They might like to keep it in a wallet, a special pocket of their school bag, or maybe a lanyard might help.

They will need to remember this smartcard every time they travel.  They will be learning to tap on at the start of every journey and tap off when they get to their destination. For some children the time travelling on the bus is the time that they ‘lose their card’. A reminder from you to keep hold of it or pop it in that special pocket whilst they travel will help.

Our drivers will be supporting children to learn these new travel behaviours also.

Misplaced and lost smartcards

A misplaced, or temporarily forgotten smartcard, can be easily managed by our driver. Not something we want to support every trip but we can look your child up on our onboard system and register their travel manually. This does take a little time to do this and if done regularly will affect our on time running, so let’s work together to help children remember their smartcard every day.

A lost smartcard will need to be replaced by chatting to the driver or contacting the Karrabee Office by text on 0438 843195 and will also require parents and guardians to manage setting your smartcard accounts again.  Lost cards attract a fee of $10 which is charged to the card account so that payment can be made.  The driver can accept payment in cash if preferred.

Thank you for those of you who are using QST for the first time….welcome
